Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
This policy explains what information SAWL collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, username, and — if you choose — display name, bio, location, work, education, profile photo, and cover photo.
- Content you create: messages you send, posts, comments, reactions, and photos or videos you upload.
- Connections: friend requests and friendships, and people you block or report.
- Technical information: basic device, browser, and usage information needed to run, secure, and improve the service.
If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google shares with us (such as your name, email address, and profile picture) to create and secure your account.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: creating your account, delivering messages, and showing posts to the people you shared them with.
- To keep SAWL safe: preventing spam, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- To improve the platform and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private messages for advertising.
Who can see what
- Public posts can be seen by anyone, including visitors who are not signed in.
- Friends-only posts are limited to your accepted friends.
- Messages are only available to the participants in that conversation.
- Your email address is never shown in public search results or on your public profile.
Access is enforced on the server and in the database, not only in the app interface.
Cookies
SAWL uses cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as appearance), and keep your session secure. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Storage and security
SAWL is operated by its owner and runs on infrastructure we control, including a self-hosted database. We use access controls, authentication, and encryption in transit (HTTPS) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but access to production data is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and privacy-related settings at any time in Settings.
- Delete posts and comments you have created.
- Block or report other users.
- Delete your account from Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and content as described in the account deletion flow.
Children
SAWL is not intended for children below the age at which they can legally consent to online services in their country. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us via Settings → Feedback and we will review it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and change the date above. Continuing to use SAWL after a change means you accept the updated policy.
